UPDATED: Evacuation Train Running Again Today

Everyone living along the Westfield road and beyond is being urged by Saint John EMO to evacuate today.

Water levels are expected to keep rising until at least Monday.

NB Southern Railroad is offering the evacuation train today at 5 pm.

The train will bring residents to Saint John in a free one-way evacuation shuttle service.

Train pick up points are railway crossing at the following locations:

o Ketepec Road crossing
o Acamac Backland Road crossing
o Grenville Lane
o Galbraith Property crossing (1109 Westfield Road)

It’s a similar message from New Brunswick EMO who warn water levels are expected to reach historic highs in the coming days so it’s time to leave if you live in a flooded area.

To assist with the evacuation, six boats from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and one Coast Guard patrol craft have been deployed in the Grand Lake area.

Another Coast Guard patrol craft will be deployed in the lower St. John River and a Transport Canada Dash 8 aircraft will conduct surveillance over the Grand Lake watershed.
