The weather was much more cooperative today as close to 700 kids from several schools turned out to plant marigolds at the top of Main Street in Saint John for the 21st year in a row.
Organizer of Marigolds and Murals Barry Ogden told the crowd a lot of flowers will have been planted over four weeks.
“Right now in the last week and a half and in the next two weeks we are going to have 65 schools at 70 locations and the total we’ve planted now is four million marigolds,” says Ogden.

“The marigolds have become one of our number one tourist attractions,” says Ogden.
“It’s been copied all over the world and when the tourists come here especially the cruise shop visitors the whole story of you planting and growing your marigolds is told. So it is unique to Saint John, and were proud of it.”
The event was originally scheduled for Thursday but was postponed because of rainy weather.
