Saint John police are releasing more details about Monday night’s shooting incident on the east side that sent a 17-year-old boy to hospital.
Staff Sgt. Tony Hayes says it happened on Mystery Lake Drive, off Golden Grove Road, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
“The 17-year-old victim told investigators that he walking along Mystery Lake [Drive] when a vehicle drove past him and he was shot,” says Hayes.
The victim is expected to be okay, but Hayes says he’s refusing to cooperate with investigators.
Second shooting since Friday
It’s the latest shooting to happen in recent days — on Friday night, a 22-year-old man was seriously hurt when he was shot on Mountain Road, off Westmorland Road.
“The recent shootings are believed to have been conducted by persons known to each other over an ongoing dispute,” says Hayes.
“These actions are bringing a large amount of police resources to bear on these individuals and their activities.”
No arrests have been made in either incident.
