There will be plenty to see and do in Saint John over the next several days as the 28th annual Buskers on the Bay Festival takes place.
Festival director Stephany Peterson tells us they have Buskers from four different continents here to wow the crowds on their various pitches, which are segments of the streets as all the world is a stage for these performers.
“Some of them, this is their first time to the festival in the full 28 years,” says Peterson, “others have joined us in many years past, and some others are bringing yet again a different variation of their techniques and their skills.”

Peterson says performers will also be using a new pitch this year, which is very significant to Port City history.
“The pitch that we’re bringing to the festival this year is called the Tinderbox and the reason for that is because the pitch itself is at the origin point of The Great Fire of 1877,” she says. “We’re going to ignite it with a little bit of fire but also with some wonder.”
Peterson says each day will feature several shows including the Family Fireworks Friday from 6 p.m.
The finale of the Circus Firemen show that evening will see them cue the Saint John Fire Department to set off the fireworks display.
