At least one shot was fired by Saint John police on Tuesday during an incident on the city’s east side.
Staff Sgt. Tony Hayes said they were called to the Hickey Road area around 4:15 p.m. after a man in a vehicle reportedly pointed a firearm at people.
“Information provided to police resulted in the police locating the suspect vehicle and occupant in the area of Linda Court,” Hayes said in a news release on Tuesday evening.
Hayes said the vehicle took off from police and was eventually stopped near the Irving Oil Refinery on Loch Lomond Road.
Police have Loch Lomond Rd closed near the refinery. Please avoid the area.

“Three police vehicles were damaged during this incident and a firearm was discharged by police,” said Hayes. “There were no injuries.”
Hayes said officers seized a firearm and ammunition and arrested a 21-year-old man, who will appear in court on Wednesday.
Loch Lomond Road was closed between St. Anne Street and Commerce Drive for more than five hours but has since reopened.
