Talks are happening between Saint John and Rothesay about the entrance to Kennebecasis Park and who should own it.
K-Park is part of Rothesay but the entrance and part of the road leading into it are on city land.
Resident Korey Nixon recently wrote both councils asking them to consider a boundary re-draw.
Mayor Don Darling told our newsroom on Monday he believes it makes the most sense for Rothesay to own the land.
“We’ll wait to hear back from city management on what makes sense there,” said Darling. “Should the land be traded, how is that little piece of land dealt with.”
City manager Jeff Trail says the conversation started after the town wanted to raise part of the road after recent flooding.
“The premise of our conversation is that the citizens of Saint John should not bear the cost of servicing a street that doesn’t provide service to the residents,” said Trail.
Nixon spoke to our newsroom over the weekend and said the town should own the land since any time and money spent there mainly benefits Rothesay residents.
