There will be a lot of people coming to the Greater Saint John region next week as the Canada 55 + games are held.
The area is playing host and there will be plenty of activities going on at 23 different venues according to games co-chair Barb Curry.
“Activities range from Scrabble and cards to ice hockey, curling and even slo-pitch softball,” says Curry.

The federal and provincial governments ended up giving the games committee $125,000 and Curry says they used part of the money to hire a games manager to oversee the logistics and a large number of volunteers will be doing everything else including providing transportation to the various venues.
The Canada 55+ games start on August 21 and run four days and its participants are expected to give a financial shot in the arm to the region as well.
