Blaine Higgs has been the new PC leader since October when he beat 6 other candidates to win the job.
He tells us it’s pretty much what he expected.
Some were surprised that he could get the job in New Brunswick without being bilingual. Higgs has pledged to learn french.
His goal is to try to speak french if he could and to try to do that for the next election in 2018.
We asked if not being able to speak french ever became an issue for him before because it’s New Brunswick.
He says it did come up when he was in the finance portfolio adding he’s not starting from ground zero saying he took some courses when he was in government.
Higgs plans to take a french course with his wife Marsha next month.
