Fitness Instructors Now Learning How To Train Older Adults

You may one of the people who rang in the New Year with a resolution to become fitter in 2017. If so, you’re not alone.

Licensed physiotherapist and physical health educator Mo Hagen says fitness instructors are now taking specialised courses and becoming certified to learn how to train older adults because of the increasing demand.

Hagen says the programming for older adults involves a low impact workout that will include balance in how you move about and mindfulness.

Most people seem to like the high intensity training because it doesn’t take too much time from busy schedules to achieve results and the second most popular is called functional fitness which mimics the movements you use in life such as lifting, squatting, lunging and leaning.

Another growing trend is standing at your desk while working instead of sitting down all day long.
