In the Majors, Justin Smoak hit two homers for the Toronto Blue Jays in an 8-6 win over the Boston Red Sox….Luis Severino threw seven shutout innings, Brett Gardner hit a solo home run off Felix Hernandez and the New York Yankees added three unearned runs for a 4-1 win over Seattle……The 11 game winning streak of the Los Angeles Dodgers came to an end as they lost to Atlanta 6-3…..The Pittsburgh Pirates are making a move in the National League Central after a 4-2 win over Milwaukee to complete a four game sweep. The Pirates have now won 11 of their past 13 and trail the Brewers by 3 games. Elsewhere, it was the New York Mets 3 St. Louis 2…..Arizona 12 Cincinnati 2……Baltimore 9 Texas 7……Kansas City 16 Detroit 4 and San Diego 5 San Francisco 2.

The Blue Jays have promoted pitcher Andrew Case of Saint John to their Triple “A” farm team in Buffalo, one step below the Majors.

In the Canadian Football League, Edmonton improved to 4 and 0 after a 31-28 win over winless Hamilton. The Eskimos scored a touchdown on a 75 yard drive with just 23 seconds left.

O.J. Simpson, who’s 70 years old, has been granted parole after being convicted in 2008 of an armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room. Simpson claimed they had property that rightfully belonged to him and he was just trying to get it back. Simpson could be out of prison as early as October 1st.
