It’s just a matter of time before contracts are landed for the now completed Spruce Lake Barge Terminal in Lornville. That word coming from Styve Dumouchel, the C-E-O at Lorneville Mechanical Contractors.
He admits the competition to be the winning bid is intense with competition for contracts coming from as far away as Texas and Ontario but Saint John has a couple of big advantages when it comes proximity to large scale projects along the U.S. eastern seaboard.
Provincial Economic Development Minister Rick Doucet sees good things happening in the future, describing the potential spinoffs as remarkable.
Dumouchel says the barge terminal here would be perfect for the gas conversions taking place in the U.S. with closure of coal fired plants for environmental reasons.
The barge terminal will allow oversized manufacturing pieces that are too large to be transported by truck or by rail to travel to their destinations over water.
