In the NHL
The 2016 Draft taking place this weekend in Buffalo, New York. The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted centre Austin Matthews with the first overall pick. The second round will begin today. No Saint John Sea Dogs have been drafted as of yet.
The Calgary Flames have aquired former St. Louis Blues goaltender Brian Elliot in exhange for a 2nd round draft pick this year and a conditional 3rd round draft pick next year. Blues GM is expected to sign goaltender and Fredericton native Jake Allen to a contract extension. The Montreal Canadiens traded two second round draft picks to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Andrew Shaw.
In MLB
The Toronto Blue Jays fell 3-2 to the Chicago White Sox, the Boston Red Sox edged the Texas Rangers 8-7 and the New York Yankees took a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins.
In the CFL
Montreal beat Winnipeg 22-14.
