The signing of an infrastructure agreement between the federal and provincial governments is said to be close.
The Gallant Government is anxious to see the infusion of millions of dollars flow into the province from Ottawa and Saint John wants a piece of the action.
Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long can’t be specific just yet before anything is signed but he’s optimistic, saying he has been working with federal departments and ministers.
Long does say he expects some very positive announcements in the next 6 to 12 months.
Federal funding is expected for modernising the port on the west side which is a multi-year project valued at more than 200 million dollars and labour intensive.
