Sculpture Saint John Holding Selfie Contest Ahead Of Event

A selfie contest has been launched by Sculpture Saint John whereby people take pictures of themselves with any one of the 14 sculptures created as part of the symposium events between St. Stephen and Sussex.

Executive Director Diana Alexander says all you have to do is post the picture to your own Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the #SculptureSJ and they’ll have a draw for a prize package worth about $500.

“What we wanted to do was remind people that we’re coming and also remind people about the 14 beautiful sculptures that are out there now that we’ll be adding eight more to in the next litle while.”

Alexander says if you go to their website you can see the directions for all the pieces and you can also download a mobile app.

“When they get to the sculpture it gives a statement from the sculptor about why he or she created that piece, what they were thinking, gives the website for the artist and gives the website for the community that the sculpture is located in.”

The contest is done on July 31 and the winner will be notified on August 4, which is the day the symposium starts.

Eight artists from all over the world, including two from New Brunswick, will be taking part in this year’s symposium which is expanding its reach rom Fredericton to Riverview.
