Oral rabies vaccine bait will be distributed in both Saint John and Fredericton this month.
Though the two cities have not had any reported cases of wildlife with rabies, Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries minister Rick Doucet says it’s important to be proactive to stop the spread of the viral disease.
This distribution is going to happen in the province’s capital city starting next week and in Saint John the week of July 18. It will go in areas like parks, the woods, green spaces, and hedges. It’s not dangerous for humans, pets livestock or the environment but you are advised to keep an eye on your pets to make sure they don’t eat the bait.
The vaccine will be distributed by hand and by air in parts of western New Brunswick this summer,
