In the National League, Los Angeles Dodgers’ ace pitcher Clayton Kershaw left the game with tightness in his back and is headed for the 10 day disabled list…..The Dodgers won over Atlanta 5-4 in 10 innings and lead the West by 10 and a half games over Colorado…..The Chicago Cubs are tied for first in the Central Division with Milwaukee after a 5-3 win over St. Louis with Willson Contreras and Kyle Schwarber hitting home runs for Chicago. In New Brunswick Senior Baseball over the weekend, the Saint John Alpines split two with Charlottetown, losing the first 3-0 but winning the second game, 3-1.
In Junior play, the Alpines lost twice to Chatham, 5-3 and 8-0.
Jordan Speith rallied from being one shot down with five holes left to win the British Open by three shots.
The Saint John Wanderers and Moncton Mustangs will face eachother next Saturday afternoon at Shamrock Park for the Maritime Football League title. Saint John advanced with a 35-0 win over the Prince Edward Island Mariners while Moncton defeated the Nova Scotia Buccaneers 35-12.
