New Brunswick Claims Five Medals At Jeux De La Francophonie 2017

Team New Brunswick is coming home with five medals from the 8th La Francophonie Games in Cote d’Ivoire.

Dieppe’s Gabriel Robichaud won silver for his work in literature, while Moncton’s Annie-France Noel won bronze in photography.

Other medals include a gold in the marathon by Quispamsis native Shelley Doucet, as well as a bronze in wrestling from Fredericton’s Samantha Stewart, and a silver medal in sculpture for Edmunston’s Émilie Lavoie.

The three culture medals are the most won in any games by Team NB.

The team won six medals overall in 1997’s Madagascar hosted games, and six at the Games held in Nice, France, in 2013.

Moncton and Dieppe are jointly hosting the next La Francophonie Games in 2021.
