Saint John Firefighters Extinguish Couch Fire

A couch fire in the city’s north end prompting a response from the fire department this weekend.

Platoon Chief Michael Carr says firefighters who first arrived at 85 Main Street North reported smoke in the area, however, it was found that the fire was on a couch between the home and a garage and hadn’t spread to the home itself so the call was downgraded.

The fire was put out and nobody was hurt.

In a separate incident over the weekend, Carr says a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Duke Street West but suffered only minor injuries from the collision.
