Being disabled puts you at an economic disadvantage according to a report from Stats Canada.
On average, people aged 25 to 64 with a disability earned an average of $29,300 a year in employment income, compared with more than $52 thousand for those who did not have a disability.
People who are disabled accounted for about 20% of the Canadian population between the ages of 25 and 64 in 2014 but they made up 41% of the low income population in the same age group that year.
