Drone Crosses Country With Views Of Less Travelled Terrain

In celebration of Canada’s 150th year, a drone is crossing the country, covering 11, 000 kilometres, over diverse terrain, and discovering some of the unknown communities.

The journey is being supported by Duracell and Macleans, and provides an opportunity for Canadians to discover some hidden gems, from a drones point of view.

Spokesperson Peter Gorzowski says the drone has captured the diverse landscapes, and terrain as it travels from one end of the country to another, “We really wanted to celebrate Canada’s 150th in a special way, so we came up with this crazy idea of flying this semi-new technology all the way to St. John’s Newfoundland. We did some research and planned out the route. We didn’t want to go to cities and locations that were known to people, that they may have seen pictures and videos of. We wanted to really take the back roads and capture the Canada that Canadians don’t normally get to see.”

The drone is expected to make its way into New Brunswick at the end of the month, and the plan is to explore the Quispamsis region.

Gorzowski adds, “If anyone has any input on hidden gems that we should be visiting, please let us know.”

Footage is available online, or can be viewed on Rogers Channel 100 starting the middle of the month.

In addition to the streamed footage, the Explorer150 program also shares stories of everyday heroes who power the country. One feature editorial video was produced in each province and territory and will be featured online as the drone crosses near the hometowns of the feature stories.

Canadians who want to support the journey can help drive awareness by sharing content, telling their neighbours and friends, and if they see the drone journey in their community to come out and meet the team.
