Saint John pet owners can now bring their four-legged friends into nearly three dozen businesses ranging from galleries to clothing shops in the uptown area.
It’s a recently launched pet-friendly intiative by Uptown Saint John and executive director Nancy Tissington says it’s something she did in her previous career in Halifax and it was very well received.
“It’s been just in the works over the last three or four weeks and then we made the order, and put in the dog bowls, so we have some nice stainless steel dog bowls, we have nice decals for folks to put on their windows,” says Tissington. “So it’s very clear that people will be able to say I know I can go into that store or that business.”
Tissington says it’s tapping into the market of people who own pets uptown.
“They can feel free to walk in, to browse to see something that they may have seen in the window. There may actually be a purchase that happens.”
