The NBA is moving the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte because of the league’s objection to the North Carolina Bill which limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people in the state.
In the Majors, the Boston Red Sox got 17 hits in a 13-2 win over Minnesota. Mookie Betts homered on the very first pitch and the Red Sox also got home runs by Jackie Bradley Jr. and David Ortiz. Boston has won three straight and nine of 10……Baltimore averted a four game sweep with a 4-1 win over the New York Yankees. Elsewhere, it was the Los Angeles Dodgers 6 Washington 3…..Miami 9 Philadelphia 3….Pittsburgh 5 Milwaukee 3…..St. Louis 6 San Diego 5…..Detroit 2 Chicago White Sox 1…..Colorado 7 Atlanta 3 and Tampa Bay 7 Oakland 3.
In New Brunswick Senior Baseball, the Saint John Alpines over the Fredericton Royals 12-7. They will face eachother again tomorrow night in Fredericton at 7:00.
Saint John will host the Run, Jump, Throw, Wheel Atlantic Championships tomorrow with more than 200 competitors at the Canada Games Stadium. Directly following this event, the 2016 Atlantic Track and Field Championships will be held through Sunday with more than 300 athletes over the age of 13 from the four Atlantic Provinces.
