Hurricane Season At Par With Last year

The Texas Gulf Coast is gettng ready for a visit from Hurricane Harvey this weekend. It’s expected to be a major Category 3 with sustained winds of 200 km/h when it makes landfall.

It is not expected to have any impact on our region but Bob Robichaud of the Canadian Hurricane Centre in Halifax says something is brewing for us off the south eastern seaboard of the US. Robichaud says two of their forecast models show a system that may be named by next week headed towards our waters and one that shows it having an impact on the Maitimes with wind and rain.

Robichaud says September 10th is the peak for Hurricane season and so far their have been eight named storms and three hurricanes including Harvey which is on par for this time last year.
