Highway 1 was closed for several hours last night after a fuel truck crashed over the guard rail. The crash happened just before 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon, between the Exits for Bayside and Kerrs Ridge.

The transport crashed through the guardrail and slid down the embankment on Highway 1 westbound. Witnesses tell us the truck, which was carrying oil, could be seen leaking on the ground. In the meantime, the wife of the trucker is thanking a few locals for his rescue. In a post on Facebook, Judie Greenlaw says Ronnie McFarlane and two other men whom she doesn’t know, helped her husband, Dan, get out of the truck, after he crashed through the guard rail and slid down an embankment. She says he is currently in the ICU in Saint John with a concussion, a black eye, a swollen ear, and his shoulder has a deep laceration that will require surgery. Greenlaw also thanks first responders, Dan’s boss for staying with him until she could arrive, and God.
