Water Quality Testing Under Review At Parlee Beach

A multi-department provincial committee is looking into the way water quality is tested at Parlee Beach and other beaches in New Brunswick.

Concerns were raised over how staff at Parlee Beach were rating the water last summer.

Health minister Victor Boudreau says the committee is looking at several things including whether water testing should be done differently.

“Obviously, Parlee Beach is very important from a tourism point of view and from a public health point of view, it has to be safe,” he notes.

Boudreau says the committee is looking at several things including how can we do things differently, do we have to change the way we do the test and do we have to change the way we report those findings.

By the time beach season rolls around, Boudreau expects the committee will bring forward recommendations so government can make any necessary changes.
