There are still a lot of unanswered questions about how recreational marijuana will be sold in New Brunswick once it is legalised.
NB Liquor President and C-E-O Brian Harriman says one option being looked at is to sell pot at separate locations apart from liquor stores. M-L-A’s on the Crown Corporations Committee were told a task force of provincial liquor C-E-O’s doesn’t feel marijuana should be sold in existing liquor stores.
Harriman warns when it comes to pricing, what charged has to be competitive with the black market.
He says the sale of marijuana could be significantly profitable but will likely be tightly controlled in the early stages at a conservative number of free standing stores.
Harriman adds the sale of wine at supermarkets has turned out to be a big help for 20 provincial wineries. One change in the works is to allow all craft brewers access to farmers markets.
