Thousands Of New Jobs In New Brunswick

July was a good month for New Brunswick with gains in employment. There were five thousand new jobs and that dropped the unemployment rate to 9.7 per cent.

Saint John saw a decrease to 7.3 per cent but Moncton experienced an increase to 7.7 per cent.

The provincial government has released a broad outline of how it wants to grow the economy. The Atlantic Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Kevin Lacey is skeptical about its prospects for success because of taxation that’s too high and too much regulation.

Nationally, 31 thousand jobs were lost according to Stats Canada. That was higher than anticipated. Alberta’s unemployment rate is at its highest level in 22 years and Calgary has the highest unemployment rate of any city in the survey at 8.6 per cent.

. Ontario lost 36 thousand jobs last month.
