There are too many judicial vacancies and the delay on appointing new judges is causing unneccessary delays in dispensing justice. That criticism is being voiced by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Beverley McLachlin.
She says providing fair trials within a reasonable amount of time is an indicator of the health and proper functioning of the justice system and government is not moving fast enough to fill vacancies.
The Chief Justice calls it an avoidable problem that needs to be tackled and solved.
