Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse has qualified for the final of the 200 metres that will be run today. De Grasse finished second to Jamaica’s Usain Bolt in the semi final. After the first day of competition in the decathlon at Rio 2016, Damian Warner of Canada is in third place.
Two American swimmers were pulled off a flight home by Brazilian police over their claim they were robbed at gunpoint. Police say they have found little evidence so far to support the claim.
Brazilian police also arrested a member of the IOC’s executive board, Ireland’s Patrick Hickey, who heads the European Olympic Committee for ticket scalping. Hickey was taken to hospital complaining of chest pains.
