There are signs of optimism about Saint John economy.
The Executive Director of the City Manager’s office, Phillippe Ouelette says a major selling point is the affordability of buying a house, saying people in Toronto and Vancouver don’t believe you can buy a heritage home in the urban centre for 200 or 300 thousand dollars.
Ouelette says another positive trend is continuing investment in the urban core which he sees as smart growth and the number of building permits is up.
He adds, according to projections, the population of Saint John will start growing after this year.
