You could be in for a ticket if you don’t come to a complete stop.
That’s the warning from St. Stephen RCMP, who are increasing enforcement efforts on drivers who fail to come to a complete stop at stop signs.
St. Stephen RCMP Commander, Sgt. Peter Stubbs says so far this year, they have already responded to two serious collisions caused by drivers who failed to stop at a stop sign.
“Fortunately, the people involved only sustained minor injuries. We’ve also had property damage caused by drivers failing to stop at intersections, stop signs or traffic lights. Our hope is this targeted campaign will help drivers to be more aware of where they need to come to a complete stop.”
The campaign will run for the entire month of October, and failing to stop at a stop sign could cost you a fine of $172.50.
