Friday Morning Sports For October 6th

In the Major League playoffs, Trevor Bauer allowed no runs and struck out 8 in 6 and two-thirds innings pitched as Cleveland shut out the New York Yankees 4-0. Jay Bruce, who was acquired from the New York Mets, drove in three runs……Jose Altuve hit three home runs as the Houston Astros pounded Chris Sale and the Boston Red Sox 8-2. There are 4 games today starting off with the Red Sox and Houston this afternoon at 3:00 with Drew Pomeranz starting for Boston against Dallas Keuchel for the Astros. The New York Yankees are in Cleveland starting at 6:00 our time with C-C Sabathia going up against Corey Kluber. Tonight, the Chicago Cubs are at Washington and in the late game, Arizona is in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

The Red Sox have added outfielder Chris Young to their American League Division Series roster as a replacement for injured infielder Eduardo Nunez. He aggravated a sprained ligament in his knee.

In the NHL, Jonathan Drouin got the winner for Montreal in a 3-2 shootout over Buffalo….Jake DeBrusk had a goal and assist in his first NHL game and Charlie McAvoy added a goal and assist in his first regular season appearance as the Boston Bruins got by Nashville 4-3…..Brandon Saad scored three goals and Ryan Hartman had a goal and four assists in Chicago’s 10-1 win over Pittsburgh…..Elsewhere, it was Colorado 4 the New York Rangers 2…..Washington 5 Ottawa 4 in a shootout…..Detroit 4 Minnesota 2….Anaheim 5 Arizona 4 and Los Angeles 2 Philadelphia 0.

In the NFL, Tom Brady threw for over 300 yards and one touchdown in New England’s 19-14 win over Tampa Bay.
