Provincial Conservative leader Blaine Higgs is calling it alternative reality…….What he’s talking about is Premier Brian Gallant’s claim that the provincial economy is robust.
Higgs points to the economic outlook showing New Brunswick ranked 9th out of 10 provinces which is hardly robust.
The Premier says the provincial economy shrank when Higgs was finance minister when he made cuts to healthcare and education.
Higgs is calling the Premier irresponsible for allowing the provincial debt to rise by another billion dollars this year.
Meantime, Stats Canada is reporting the unemployment rate in New Brunswick fell last month to 8.9 per cent because there were fewer people out looking for jobs.
The unemployment rate in Saint John went down from 8.1 to 7.8 per cent. In Moncton, there was an increase from 7.8 to 8 per cent.
