No School Today As Storm Cleanup Happens

Schools in the Anglophone South and Francophone School Districts will remain closed today to allow for snow removal.

U-N-B Saint John is also closed for the day.

The New Brunswick Community College in Saint John will reopen at 12:30 but there are no classes today. Allied Health is also closed for the day.

Classes at the community college in Saint Andrews are cancelled but the buildings for staff members will open at 10:00 this morning.

Classes at Eastern College have been cancelled but the college itself is open.

The city tells us garbage and compost will be picked up today for those who normally have it done on Tuesdays. The people who have their garbage and compost taken care of on Monday will have to get it curbside by 7:30 tomorrow morning.

All public libraries in the Saint John area will be closed today including the Fundy Library Regional Office.

Travel will be slowgoing as the plows make their way around. Police in the city and the K-V tell us the main arteries are clear but with the piles of snow, your visability will be reduced at intersections. The side streets though are still clogged with snow.

The RCMP say Highway 1 from St. Stephen to River Glade is open to traffic.

The Evandale ferry is off its run.

Some people are trapped inside their homes because of snow blocking doorways.

Environment Canada reports Saint John Airport recorded 36 centimeters of snow but there was a lot of drifting because winds were gusting as high as 85 kilometers an hour. Moncton received more than 37 centimeters of snow with 10 hours of blizzard conditions but C-F-B Gagetown recorded 79 centimeters of snow in 70 kilometer an hour winds that caused 15 hours of blizzard conditions.
