In the NHL, Alex Galchenyuk scored on a power play at 2:54 of overtime as the Montreal Canadiens rallied from two goals down in the third period for a 4-3 win over New Jersey…….Minnesota got by Los Angeles in overtime 5-4 and it was Tampa Bay 5 Ottawa 1.

Plenty of trades in the NHL……The Washington Capitals acquired one of the top players available in defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk from St. Louis…..The Ottawa Senators traded a prospect for veteran forward Alex Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks….Los Angeles acquired goalie Ben Bishop from the Tampa Bay Lightning…..The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired center Brian Boyle from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Byron Froese and a second-round draft pick in 2017.

In the NBA, DeMar DeRozan made a turnaround jumper with 1.9 seconds remaining to give the Toronto Raptors a 92-91 victory over the New York Knicks. In other play, it was Atlanta 114 Boston 98…..Golden State 119 Philadelphia 108…..Cleveland 102 Milwaukee 95……Dallas 96 Miami 89…..Indiana 117 Houston 108 and Minnesota 102 Sacramento 88.
