It was announced with much fanfare by the provincial government in the spring that two Sears Call Centres were being set up, one in Edmunston and one in Saint John, but now they are closing down.
The 380 jobs that went with the call centres will be going because Sears has now announced it is throwing in the towel putting 12,000 people out of work.
It’s another huge economic blow to the Port City and Saint John East MLA Glen Savoie says it’s a tough day for a lot of good people, and he says he knows many of them who left a job to seek a better future at the Sears Call Centre.
Savoie says the PC’s will be taking the Gallant Liberals to task over this issue and many other similar ones when the legislative sessions gets underway later this month.
