Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland says Joshua Boyle of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, who was imprisoned by the Taliban in Afghanistan, is not the subject of an investigation.
Reportedly, Boyle was concerned he might be arrested if he boarded a U.S. aircraft. Boyle had been married to Omar Khadr’s sister. Khadr had been imprisoned for terrorism at Guantanamo Bay for 10 years.
Freeland says Boyle and his family have been traumatised by their ordeal and when asked, Freeland told reporters no ransom was paid.
Boyle’s father, Patrick told CNN his son wants to be home.
