NB Power Posts Third Quarter Results

NB Power has posted year-to-date earnings of $44 million in the third quarter of its fiscal year which ended in December.

The provincial power utility says that represents and increase of $39 million over the same period a year ago.

However, top officials say the fourth quarter may prove much more challenging.

NB Power chief financial officer Darren Murphy says the severe ice storm in late January was very costly and prompted the largest ever restoration effort in company history.

At the peak of the ice storm, more than 130,000 NB Power customers were left in the dark and about 600 utility poles were destroyed.
