The Saint John Sea Dogs are ranked as the top junior team in the country heading into the playoffs with visions of an appearance in the Memorial Cup.

Sea Dogs play by play announcer Tim Rozell says you have to keep such an accolade in perspective because there’s still a lot of hockey to play yet but the team has been fortunate to play in a tough division all year long.

They were jolted this week at learning defenceman Oliver Felixson is suffering from Hodgin’s lymphoma. Rozell says the players are coming together with clarity of purpose.

“Overall I think the players are doing well with it, they are there for Ollie, Ollie wants them to do what they can on the ice to continue to be the top team in the QMJHL and right now the number one ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League,” says Rozell.

“They’re behind Ollie and Ollie is behind them too, for sure.”

The Sea Dogs also announced the 50/50 jackpots for each of the final two home games of the season will be worth a guaranteed of $10 thousand.

The Sea Dogs play Charlottetown tonight in a huge game with the Islanders just three points back and then finish up tomorrow night at home against Halifax. Both games are expected to be sold out.
