There wasn’t much of a change in unemployment for New Brunswick last month with the rate remaining at 8.9 per cent.
Saint John rose from 7.8 per cent in January to 7.9 per cent. There was an increase in Moncton as well from 8 to 8.2 per cent.
Nationally, the unemployment rate dropped to 6.6 per cent, the lowest in two years with the addition of 105 thousand full time jobs. At the same time, there was a loss of 90 thousand part time jobs.
Stats Canada reports fewer people were out and about looking for work but employment among women aged 25 to 54 increased.
