Meeting On AIM Recycling Impact

The AIM recycling facility on Saint John’s west side will be the focus of a meeting on Wednesday evening and anyone looking to attend needs to head to the Liveable Saint John Facebook event page and pre-register.

The group is partnering with Harbour Front Residence’s to hear concerns about the numerous explosions but more importantly the possibility of airborne heavy metal contaminants.

Raven Blue says the meeting will have a few components to it.

“So we will be reading statements from residents in the area and some residents will also be speaking about their experience. It is going to be a scheduled presentation and at the end of the meeting there will be a brief Q and A.” says Raven Blue.

Raven Blue says ” In cases where there are scrap metal recyclers near residential areas there is a high risk of heavy metal contaminants from the ongoing operations of the facility, and we feel this is the number one risk to residents in the area,”
