Money For Two Salmon Conservation Projects

A couple of projects that will help maintain healthy salmon stocks in the area are getting funding from the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation.

The Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee is getting $15,000 for the first phase of its two year Closing Data and Restoration Gaps project. Bioengineering approaches will be used to stabilize an eroding site and improve fish passage through the reach.

The second funding of $7,000 goes to the Hammond River Angling Association for its Hammond River Smolt Assessment Project.

The objectives are to keep tabs on the number of smolt in the watershed each year, and to detail their timing of their migration to the sea.
