Foster Families Needed In New Brunswick

Foster families play a vital role within our communities by providing this care on a short or long-term basis for children under the age of 19.

Pauline Desroche is a Foster Family Coordinator in New Brunswick..She says there is a high need throughout the province, “We have a large number of children requiring temporary homes because of situations that families are in. Definitely the need is very high, especially for families that are willing to take children of different ages. It’s not only foster families at this point for teenagers, as everyone thinks. It is definitely for children of all ages and for siblings also.”

She says they strive to keep children in their community, and if there are siblings, they do their best to keep them together.

To become a foster parent, you will first go through a lengthy assessment and training, “Once they’re assessed and approved, and they are into the system, they are assigned to someone, and they will stay involved with that family throughout the fostering career,” Desroche notes.
