Rothesay Council Will Look Into Canada 150 Fund For More Parking At Rothesay Common

Rothesay Council will be exploring the idea of applying for money from the Canada 150 fund to develop a parking lot by Rothesay Common.

Mayor Nancy Grant says town staff presented the idea of developing a parking lot behind the Rothesay Park Elementary School.

Grant says council felt this was a good idea and they will consider the project for the 2018 budget.

She says council will see if the project fits the criteria for the Canada 150 fund, and if it does, council will proceed with the application.

You will not longer be able to park on both sides of the road near the Rothesay Common.

Grant says not allowing parking on both sides of the street is another way of alleviate perceived congestion around the common.

Councillor Don Shea says people do have permission to use one of the church parking lots, but says it would be nice to be able to park somewhere without having to cross the road to get to the rink.
