The voting age in New Brunswick will not be lowered from 18 to 16 in time for the next provincial election in September of 2018.
The provincial government says it will not act on a recommendation to lower the voting age unless the idea is approved by New Brunswickers during a referendum.
The referendum on changing the voting age will be included as part of the municipal election in 2020.
