It’s World Down Syndrome Day!

The members of the Greater Moncton Down Syndrome Society are helping to raise awareness of the day, and are helping to honour those who have the 21st chromosome that causes down syndrome.

President Sandra Blatt-Arsenault says they want to get everyone talking, “It’s really to celebrate diversity. Talk about inclusion, how can we make the world a little bit better by including everyone with all of the cool things that they bring. They have special abilities, like every single other person. If we can just take that extra time to open our hearts, to see what others have for their special abilities, their gifts, it would be a better world.”

This year, for world down syndrome, they are asking people to #Lotsofsocks. Wear brightly coloured, printed on, or even three socks for three chromosomes. If someone asks about your socks, tell them about World Down Syndrome Day.

Sharing your photos with #Lotsofsocks or #WDSD will raise even more awareness.
