New Brunswick Federation Of Labour Disappointed In Lack Of Substance In Federal Budget

The New Brunswick Federation of Labour is disappointed at the lack of substance in this year’s Federal Budget.

NBFL President Patrick Colford says they had a whole lot of questions, but they didn’t get many answers.

“It was basically nothing more than the Fall Fiscal Plan with a few colourful sprinkles around it, but there’s nothing there for any of the things we were looking for, and I think a lot of Canadians were looking for,” says Colford.

He says there was nothing about pensions, and very little of substance for childcare, or middle and lower class people.

Colford says it was good to hear the government is going to encourage life long retraining for job skills.

“I really worry, and I worry about automation, and sure, there’s a lot of high tech jobs, but at the end of the day you also need the jobs that people don’t need the big degrees to go to, you need blue collar workers, you’ll always need blue collar workers,” says Colford

Colford says there was nothing from this government on issues like pensions, Canada Post, and the CBC.
