Executive Director Wendy MacDermott tells CHSJ News some of the extra money will be used for a new program that brings a group of kids from Saint John and Sussex struggling in difficult family situations to Snider Mountain Ranch.
She says they are teaching them teambuilding and responsibility.
Several local businesses were honoured for growth in their workplace campaigns including the City of Saint John whose employees gave $11,000 more than the previous year.
Campaigns at Enbridge, HSBC, Mariner Partners and NB Power also contributed more to the 2016 campaign.
