Canadian Manufacturers And Exporters Association Calls Taxing Machinery And Equipment A Jobs Killer

The Executive Director of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association doesn’t agree with the taxing of machinery and industrial equipment as proposed by Saint John Common Council.

Joel Richardson says such a move would be an investment and jobs killer for the Greater Saint John region.

In fact, he warns it could lead to established companies or potential new companies looking south of the border.

The City of Saint John has approached the province about removing the exemption on taxing machinery and equipment and Green Party Leader David Coon says he will be introducing legislation in the house during this session to try and get that done.
