CCNB Launches First Cannabis Cultivation Technician Program

CCNB is accepting applications for the first ever Cannabis Cultivation Technician program.

The deadline to apply is November 13th, with the program beginning two weeks later for the first 25 students.

CCNB Executive Director for Continuing Education Michel Doucet says it’s a science based horticultural program.

“So vegetation plant care, controlled environment, the watering, the elements that are required for successful growth and of course industry has a key role to play because every industry do have their own specific criterias based on their production facilities,” says Doucet.

He says they spent 16 months working with local pot producer Organigram to develop the curriculum.

“As long as we’re lining up with Organigram, or other producers, their goals, their respective policies, we know we’re okay,” says Doucet. “We’re not getting into any area of the training where it will be criticized but we will be going over some of th key aspects and legislation.”

The 12 week program will include a week of work at Organigram to gain hands on experience.

Post-Secondary Education Minister Roger Melanson announced the government would spend $70,000 to cover the full tuition costs of the first cohort of students.

If you wish to apply, you’re asked to submit a letter of interest and resume to the following email: cultivation.tech@ccnb.ca
